Connecting Community for Kids is part of the Education, Care and Family Network (ECFN) Kwinana along with Ngala, Goodstart Parmelia, the Smith Family and Leda Primary School. The ECFN aims to enhance children's learning and development from conception to eight years by impacting the culture and ways of working with families in Kwinana and building a strong community of trust, learning and practice.
The ECFN runs workshops and seminars every quarter. Check out our events page.
We have also developed a My Journey to School booklet, which is supported by the Department of Education.
The booklet is filled with information from pregnancy to school entry for Kwinana parents and carers and ensures a smooth transition to school by preparing children and families during the early years including:
- Your child’s journey from pregnancy to school age
- Your child’s journey the year before school
- When and how to enrol your child into school
- How to prepare your child for school
- Details of educational facilities and primary schools in Kwinana
- Services and programs available in Kwinana
Transition to School Workshops
The transition from primary to high school is a significant time of change, with many children finding the transition an exciting positive experience. Some students however find this transition challenging, scary and overwhelming which can impact on their educational outcomes and mental health. To assist with making the change as smooth as possible we implemented a series of workshops, which commenced in Term 4 2019, with the aim of assisting children to feel confident, prepared and ready to thrive as they transition to high school.
