Help create a beautiful blanket for families in need

These weekly sessions will let us engage as a community, share stories, provide support and have fun at the same time as creating beautiful community blankets for families in need.

The aim is to join our meeting, knit a square and once isolation and self distancing are over we will physically get together, put our squares into one large blanket (or more depending on how many we have) and donate the blanket to local families in need.

Materials required
8 ply wool (100grams) in any combinations of colours
4.50mm/US 7 needles

If you are unable to get wool and/or needles let us know and we will see what we can do to assist you.

Instructions
Cast on enough stitches to make 8” (20cm), which should be anywhere, from 35 to 40 stitches. Try to make your stitches neither too loose nor too tight to help ensure uniform squares. This may vary slightly depending on your tension.

Row 1: knit Row 2: knit. It’s that simple! Continue knitting rows 1 and 2 until your square is as long as it is wide.

Don’t worry if you haven’t knitted before we will show you how to during the zoom session.
