Kids in Nature – free monthly event

‘Kids in Nature’ is a free event held each month at different parks and nature reserves across the City of Kwinana.

The events are designed to spark children’s imaginations, connect them with nature, give them knowledge about the local environment and sustainability as well as encourage mums to meet new people in the local community.

Kids in Nature has been running since March 2019 and commences with a bush walk through various tracks surrounded by majestic gum trees, abundant bird life, wetlands and native flora. This is followed by a hands-on activity focused around sustainability and a picnic lunch. Past events have included worm farms, building wands out of natural materials and natural naughts and crosses.

“These monthly events encourage local mums to bring the kids along to one of Kwinana’s wonderful outdoor spaces, and submerge themselves in activities that will inspire a love of nature and biodiversity. Children are encouraged to explore colours, patterns and textures in nature and look at creative ways to utilise them in play-based activities. ” said Jane Miller Partnership Director at Connecting Community for Kids. “They also provide a platform for local mums to meet new people and build a support network in the local area.”
